I Like Things Simple...
I like simple…
If it’s complicated, time consuming or requires me to set up too many things I won’t do it!
I feel the same when it comes to health and weight loss.
We really make it all more complicated than it needs to be.
3 of the things that I did that helped to keep things simple were:
1. Focus on the *quality* of your calories instead of the quantity
Not all calories are created equally – that’s why doing that old calories in calories out thing really just makes weight loss that much harder.
You can feed your body the same amount of calories in snickers and potato chips or with steak and veg and you’re going to have two different results both in how you feel and with your weight loss.
It’s so important to give your body the nutrition it needs to do its job!
2. Eat more protein and fat
Protein is the most satiating for the 3 macros and when you combine it with good healthy fats (from fruits and animal products) it’s a hunger busting powerhouse – when you’re less hungry you can naturally eat less without all the calorie micromanaging bs.
3. Focus on meals and ditch the snacks
I know, I know you’ve probably been told that grazing or eating several small meals throughout the day is the way to get your metabolism “firing” or to keep your blood sugar balanced.
The problem with that, though, is that it actually keeps your blood sugar (and your fat storage hormone insulin) elevated more often throughout the day. When insulin is high you will be in fat storage mode rather than fat burning mode. Not what we want when we’re trying to lose weight!
By focusing on good solid meals rather than that meal-snack-meal-snack habit you allow your blood sugar and insulin to come back down to normal so you can move into fat burning mode. It also gives your body the chance to have a break from constantly digesting food!
