Tips For Eating Healthy Without Spending All Your Free Time In The Kitchen

I want to eat healthy but I don’t want to have to spend all my free time in the kitchen.

When I first started out, I was tired, like bone tired.  Like any energy that I had went into just getting through the day kinda tired.

The last thing I wanted to do was have to spend hours in the kitchen cooking and meal prepping.  Just the thought of adding one more thing to my plate at that point just felt like torture.

Now that I feel so much better I still don’t want to spend all my time in the kitchen cooking and meal prepping – I want to be out having fun!

But having good healthy food on hand does make eating healthy easier and having food prepped and ready to go does save time and make life easier during the week.

So I’ve figure out some ways to make my own food, without being stuck in my kitchen all weekend.

These are some of the things that work for me:

I batch cook protein.  If I’m going to fire up the grill, I’m not gonna just cook one steak. I’m throwing several pieces of protein on that bad boy!

Meat that can just be eaten as is reheated or cold, can be sliced up and added to salads, scrambles, frittatas, lettuce wraps etc.

If I’m going to roast some veggies, I’m going to roast a big batch that again can be eaten cold, warmed, or added to other dishes.

My slower cooker is one of my best friends.  I love being able throw in a trip tip or roast or a bunch of chicken and let the slow cooker do its thing while I’m busy doing mine.  I can eat as is and add a veggie side or again this meat can be added to several other types of dishes like soups, taco/burrito bowls, scrambles etc.

An instapot or air fryer can come in really handy for quick meals as well.  I’m still new to using both, so I’m no expert here, but I like having several different options for quick and easy meals.

Another favorite is sheet pan meals:  Thinly slice some protein, add in whatever veggies you have on hand, spice it up and shove it in the oven.  This is a great way to use up those odds and ends in the fridge before they go bad.  Switch up the seasonings each time to change it up.  I always make extra to have leftovers.

Omelets, scrambles and frittatas are also great for quick low fuss meals.

You can keep it simple and easy and still eat really well!
