Are You A Sugar Burner? Here’s How To Tell…
Our bodies are meant to be able to get energy from several different fuel sources - glucose, fat, ketones
But for many of us due to our carb heavy diets and sedentary lifestyles we’ve trained our bodies to rely on carbs/sugar as our primary energy source.
As a result our bodies have sort have forgotten how to use our body fat (or ketones) for energy. This happens when we have become insulin resistant - I have an earlier post on how and why that happens.
Although being a sugar burner might kinda sound like fun - it’s really not! It can cause a whole bunch of issues and is actually a slippery slope to diabetes.
So how do you tell if you’re a sugar burner?
There are several signs:
Frequent hunger
Hunger soon after eating
Cravings - particularly for sugar and carbs
Poor energy
Poor sleep
Energy crashes
If you miss a meal or can’t eat right away do you ever feel?
Hangry instead of hungry
Lightheaded or dizzy
Sweaty
Headaches
Fatigue
Nausea
Anxious
Irritability
Lack of concentration
Brain fog
These are all signs that you may be a sugar burner but the good thing is this can be fixed. And it’s not as complicated as it may sound. It does involve to diet and lifestyle changes but if you’ve ever dealt with BS issues you know it’s no fun and being free of all that is so worth the effort you put in to make the changes.
